Daily Report Tuesday June 21st for 2016

Weather for Today: Partly Cloudy and Hot…

HIGH : 24°C                 LOW : 14°C                  P.O.P. : 30%

Period A: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We then went to the cafeteria where we began practicing for the act we will putting on at the Year End Assembly. We are going to be working with Ms. Z’s class to do a Black Light Show to the song : “Under the Sea” from the Disney movie The Littlest Mermaid. Today we were assigned different props that we will use in the show.

Period B: We met Ms. Lupo in the cafeteria and then we went to the washroom. We then went to the Cosmetology Class where we brushed our teeth. We then washed our hands and put on some hand lotion. We then washed our faces. We then used the mannequin heads to practice our hair brushing skills.

Period C: We went to Room S-6 to clean the dishes from the Maplewood Mindfulness Community Lunch. We all had a chance to wash and dry the dishes. When we had done we went for a Community walk.

Period D: We filled in the daily report. We had our daily Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Monday June 20th 2016

Weather for Today: Sunny and Hot !!!...

Period A: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We then had Circle Time where we spoke about what we had done over the weekend. We then filled in our Weekend Journal worksheets. When we had finished our worksheets we presented them to the class. We then went to the cafeteria where we began working on the Black Light Show we will be doing in the Year End Assembly.

Period B: We met Ms. Lupo in the cafeteria. We then went to the washroom. After we had gone to the washroom we went to the Cosmetology class. We brushed our teeth using a mirror so we could be sure of doing a good job. We then washed our hands. Ms. Lupo then applied some hand cream to our hands and forearms. We then did some  laundry. We washed the hand and face towels that we have been using.

At lunch time we had a Dance Club practice with Ms. Duffin. Here is a video of us practicing..

Period C: We watched Mr. Wilkens demonstrate how to make fancy pinwheel sandwiches. We then helped to bake a batch of Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Period D: We filled in the daily report. We had our daily Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Period A: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We went for our weekly trio to the Computer Lab where we worked on various educational programs.

Period B: We met Ms. Lupo in our classroom. We then went to the washroom. After we had gone to the washroom we went to the Cosmetology class. We brushed our teeth using a mirror so we could be sure of doing a good job. We then washed our hands. Ms. Lupo then applied some hand cream to our hands and forearms. We then did some  laundry. We washed the hand and face towels that we have been using

Period C: We worked on preparing different desserts for an end of year staff gathering that we will be doing the catering for. Michelle and Jerron cut up some rhubarb. Courtney and Jerron hulled and cut up some strawberries.

Period D: We filled in the daily report. We had our daily Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Daily Report for Thursday June 16th 2016

Weather  for  Today: Sunny and Hot….

Period A: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. Firstly, we watched some video’s of Mr. Wilkens classes from past years. We then watched Mr. Wilkens demonstrate how to make pastry dough, which we will be using to make some pies. At the end of the period we had some unstructured time.

Period B: We met Ms. Lupo in our classroom. We then went to the washroom. After we had gone to the washroom we went to the Cosmetology class. We brushed our teeth using a mirror so we could be sure of doing a good job. We then washed our hands. Ms. Lupo then applied some hand cream to our hands and forearms. We then did some  laundry. We washed the hand and face towels that we have been using.

At lunch time we went to Ms. Appleton's class to join them for a special lunch. We had Pizza, Chicken fingers and for dessert we had a Ice Cream Sundae Bar. It was a delicious lunch.

Period C: We all got to help make some Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies. We helped with measuring out the ingredient’s and then portion out and flatten the cookies.

Period D: We filled in the daily report. We had our daily Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Period A: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We began by filling in yesterday’s Daily Report as Ms. Frost had some difficulties with the computer yesterday and so was unable to do it. WE then used the Promethean Board to do some literacy activities, after which we had some unstructured time.

Period B: We met Ms. Lupo in the hallway and then we went to the washroom. We then went to the Cosmetology Class where we brushed our teeth. We then washed our hands and put on some hand lotion. We then washed our faces. We then used the mannequin heads to practice our hair brushing skills. At the end of the period we went for a walk around the school.

Period C: We went for our weekly trip to No Frills where we bought some groceries. It was beautiful weather outside and we had a nice walk there and back.

Period D: We filled in the daily report. We had our daily Mindfulness Meditation sitting.

Weather for Today: Sunny and Warm ….

Period A: Mr. Wilkens was away ( again ! ) today so we had an occasional teacher , Ms. Frost. We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We then used the Promethean Board to do some literacy activities on Starfall. We then played a card game called UNO.

Period B: We met Ms. Lupo in the hallway and then we went to the washroom. We then went to the Cosmetology Class where we brushed our teeth. We then washed our hands and put on some hand lotion. We then washed our faces. We then used the mannequin heads to practice our hair brushing skills. At the end of the period we went for a walk around the school property.

Period C: We started out by going to S-6 to wash the dishes from the Maplewood Mindfulness Community lunch. We all got a chance to wash and dry the dishes. When we returned to our classroom we used the Promethean Board to do some numeracy activities.

Period D: We continued with our numeracy and literacy activates on the Promethean Board. At the end of the period we had some unstructured time.

Period A: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We had Circle time where we talked about our weekend. We then filled in our Weekend Journal Worksheets. When we had finished our worksheets we presented them to the class.

Period B: We met Ms. Lupo in our classroom. We then went to the washroom. After we had gone to the washroom we went to the Cosmetology class. We brushed our teeth using a mirror so we could be sure of doing a good job. We then washed our hands. Ms. Lupo then applied some hand cream to our hands and forearms. We then did some  laundry. We washed the hand and face towels that we have been using. At the end of the period we went for a walk around the school property.

At lunch we went on the stage to practice with the Dance Club for the Year End Assembly. Here is a video of part of the practice….

Period C: We did a Level 3 Co-op experience today. We delivered the Bluffs Monitor  Community Newspaper to the houses near the school. Here are some pictures of us doing this job….

We brushed our teeth using a mirror so we could be sure of doing a good job. We then washed our hands. Ms. Lupo then applied some hand cream to our hands and forearms. We then did some  laundry. We washed the hand and face towels that we have been using.

Period C: We watched Mr. Wilkens demonstrate how to make Chocolate Chip Cookies. After we had baked off the cookies we got to eat them. They were delicious !

Period D: We filled in the daily report. We had our daily Mindfulness Mediation sitting.

Period A: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We then did the food prep for our Lunch Program lunch. Atshaya  cut up the onions and some celery. Michelle cut up celery and peeled some potatoes.   Jerron peeled a lot of taters. Courtney cut up some carrots for salad garnish and made the Fruit Punch. Romi washed the lettuce for the salad and peeled some potatoes.

Period B: We met Ms. Lupo in our classroom. We then went to the washroom. After we had gone to the washroom we went to the Cosmetology class. We brushed our teeth using a mirror so we could be sure of doing a good job. We then washed our hands. Ms. Lupo then applied some hand cream to our hands and forearms. We then did some  laundry. We washed the hand and face towels that we have been using. At the end of the period we went for a walk outside.

Period C: We all helped out to clean the dishes and clean up the kitchen/classroom. We then went for a Community Walk. When we got back from the walk we had a delicious dessert of Mr. Wilkens famous brownies.

Period D: We filled in the daily report. We had our daily Mindfulness Mediation sitting.

Period A: Mr. Wilkens was away again this morning and we had Ms. Grossman for our Occasional teacher. She helped us to do a craft activity where we glued different shapes on to a piece of paper to make a picture of a flower. We then listened to a story and answered questions about it.

Period B: We met Ms. Lupo in our classroom. We then went to the washroom. After we had gone to the washroom we went to the Cosmetology class. We brushed our teeth using a mirror so we could be sure of doing a good job. We then washed our hands. Ms. Lupo then applied some hand cream to our hands and forearms. We then did some  laundry. We washed the hand and face towels that we have been using.

Period C: We walked to No Frills to buy the groceries for tomorrow’s lunch. We will be having Sheppard’s Pie and Garden Salad.

Period A: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We then did the food prep for our lunch. Atshaya cut up the onions. Courtney and Michelle cut up the sweet peppers. Jerron and Mindy set the table.

Period B: We met Ms. Lupo in our classroom. We then went to the washroom. After we had gone to the washroom we went to the Cosmetology class. We brushed our teeth using a mirror so we could be sure of doing a good job. We then washed our hands. Ms. Lupo then applied some hand cream to our hands and forearms. We then did some  laundry. We washed the hand and face towels that we have been using.

Period C: We all helped out washing the dishes and cleaning up the kitchen/classroom. We then got to put icing and decorations  on Chocolate Cupcakes that we had for dessert. When we had finished our dessert we went for a walk to the Water Park, Atshaya and Courtney got a little wet playing in the water park.

Weather for Today: Mainly Sunny and Warm…

Today we got to go on our weekly trip to the Scarborough YMCA. We took the 86 Scarborough bus to Kennedy Station. We then took the LRT to McCowan station and walked to the Y. We got changed and then went upstairs to the track where we walked 28 laps, which equals a mile ! We then went downstairs and used the treadmills to get even more exercise. We then went to the Food Court at Scarborough Town Centre to eat lunch. When we had finished lunch we took the TTC back to school.

Upon our return to school we filled in the daily report and had our mindfulness meditation sitting.

Note to Parents: Lunch Program tomorrow, students will not need to bring a lunch.

Period A: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We went to Ms. Z’s class to talk about our Black Light Show act. We made a list of props that we will have to create over the next few days.

Period B: We met Ms. Lupo in our classroom. We then went to the washroom. After we had gone to the washroom we went to the Cosmetology class. We brushed our teeth using a mirror so we could be sure of doing a good job. We then washed our hands. Ms. Lupo then applied some hand cream to our hands and forearms. We then did some  laundry. We washed the hand and face towels that we have been using. At the end of the period we went downstairs to cheer on Our Special Olympic athlete’s who were leaving for Oshawa today.

Period C: We went to No Frills to buy the groceries for Lunch Program which we will be having on Friday this week as we will be going to the YMCA tomorrow. We bought the ingredients for  Chicken Fajita`s, Mexican Rice and Garden Salad.

Period D: We filled in the daily report. We had our daily Mindfulness Mediation sitting.

Period A: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We then had Ms. Z’s class come over to our classroom to talk about choosing a song to use for our Year End Assembly Black Light Show. We decided that we will use a song called “ Walking In Memphis” by Marc Cohn. We will be working hard on this act over the next few weeks. We then went to S-6 to set the table for the Maplewood Mindfulness Community Lunch.

Period B: We met Ms. Lupo in our classroom. We then went to the washroom. After we had gone to the washroom we went to the Cosmetology class. We brushed our teeth using a mirror so we could be sure of doing a good job. We then washed our hands. Ms. Lupo then applied some hand cream to our hands and forearms. We then did some  laundry. We washed the hand and face towels that we have been using. At the end of the period we went for a walk outside.

Period C: We used the Promethean Board to do some patterning activities. We then went to S-6 to do the dishes from the Maplewood Mindfulness Community Lunch. Everybody had a chance to wash and dry the dishes and put them away. Here is a video of us working hard…

Period A: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We then did the food prep for our Lunch. Michelle and Jerron set the table. Atshaya washed the lettuce. Courtney grated the cheese and made the Fruit punch. Atshaya, Michelle, Courtney and Jerron all helped to cut up the garnish for the salad. We had Macaroni and Cheese with a Garden Salad. Period B: We met Ms. Lupo in our classroom. We then went to the washroom. After we had gone to the washroom we went to the Cosmetology class. Period A: We were supposed to the YMCA today but Mr. Wilkens had a prior engagement so we could not go. We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We then did some coloring so we could take part in a contest being run by Ms. Hamel in Guidance.

Period B: We met Ms. Lupo in our classroom. We then went to the washroom. After we had gone to the washroom we went to the Cosmetology class. We brushed our teeth using a mirror so we could be sure of doing a good job. We then washed our hands and faces. Ms. Lupo then applied some hand cream to our hands and forearms. We then did some  laundry. We washed the hand and face towels that we have been using.

Period C: We walked to No Frills to buy the groceries for tomorrow’s lunch. We will be having Macaroni and Cheese and Garden salad. It started to rain while we were in No Frills so we took the bus back to school.

Period A: Mr. Wilkens was away in morning as he was at a training session for the Promethean Board. We had Ms. Brass-Hass as our occasional teacher. We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We then used the Promethean Board to do both Literacy and Numeracy activities. At the end of the period we had some unstructured time.

Period B: We met Ms. Lupo in our classroom. We then went to the washroom. After we had gone to the washroom we went to the Cosmetology class. We brushed our teeth using a mirror so we could be sure of doing a good job. We then washed our hands and faces. Ms. Lupo then applied some hand cream to our hands and forearms. We then did some  laundry. We washed the hand and face towels that we have been using.

Period C: Because our schedule has changed this week we went to the Computer Lab today since we will be cooking on Friday when we have our usual computer time. We worked on various educational program’s. We then went for a Community walk.

Period B: We met Ms. Lupo in our classroom. We then went to the washroom. After we had gone to the washroom we went to the Cosmetology class. We brushed our teeth using a mirror so we could be sure of doing a good job. We then washed our hands. Ms. Lupo then applied some hand cream to our hands and forearms. We then did some  laundry. We washed the hand and face towels that we have been using. At the end of the period we had a little extra time so we went for a short walk outside.

Period C: We began with a Promethean Board activity where we played a patterning game. Atshaya did very well ! We then went to S-6 to wash the dishes and clean up from the Maplewood Mindfulness Community lunch. When we had finished that task we went for a short walk outside.

Today was the big day !!! We had our Wesak Feast today. We spent the morning getting everything ready for the big meal. Our class was responsible for putting the Roasted Vegetable Tortilla Wraps. At 11:30 most of our guests ( former Maplewood students of Mr. Wilkens ) had arrived and we sat down to the amazing meal we had worked so hard preparing over the last 3 days. Period A: We began with our Mindfulness Minutes. We then went to Ms. Z’s class to begin preparation of the food for Thursday’s Wesak Feast. Ms. Z's class will be working with us for the next two days getting ready for the meal. Atshaya cut up the onions and helped to prep the eggplant. Jerron and Atshaya peeled the potatoes. We all had a chance to use the Tortilla press to make some Corn Tortilla’s. Here are some pictures of us working hard at preparing the Feast….

Period B: We met Ms. Lupo in our classroom. We then went to the washroom. After we had gone to the washroom we went to the Cosmetology class. We brushed our teeth using a mirror so we could be sure of doing a good job. We then washed our hands and faces. Ms. Lupo then applied some hand cream to our hands and forearms. We then did some  laundry. We washed the hand and face towels that we have been using. At the end of the period we had a walk in the hallways.

Period C: We continued to work on the food prep for Thursday’s feast. We also went to S-6 to do the dishes and clean up from the Maplewood Mindfulness Community lunch. We all had a chance to wash and dry the dishes as well as clean up the kitchen/classroom.

Period D: We filled in the daily report. We had our daily Mindfulness Mediation sitting.

Note to Parents: We will not  be going to the YMCA tomorrow in order to continue to prepare for Thursday's Feast.
